Tsongmo is a high alitude lake that has been used as the temporary home by several migratory birds though it is a permanent dwelling for Brahminy Ducks.

Day 3 will be consumed in travelling from Gangtok to Lachen. The 6 hours drive through winding roads and scenic terrains is likely to remain etched in your memory. Day 4 will be the day to explore the impeccable and unexploited beauty of the North Sikkim destination of Lachen. At 2590m, Lachen is the starting point for some of the most interesting treks in North Sikkim and is the gateway to the alpine Guru Dongmar and Tso Lhamu lakes. Lachen was once the winter home of the shepherds who spent their summers on the alpine pastures bordering Tibet tending to their yaks. Today, Lachen is a popular base camp for adventurists who take up challenges to explore the northern beauty of Sikkim. On our tour, we shall be witnessing the majestic Gurudongmar Lake, which by the way is the highest lake in Sikkim and is situated at an altitude of 5181m. The azure lake is surrounded by snow-clad mountains making it a site truly worth capturing. Fluttering are the Buddhist Prayers Flags and the existence of the temple in the premises adds more to the spiritual feel of the place. Gurudongmar remains frozen throughout the winter but in summer, visitors can enjoy looking at its sparkling water.
